Background
The main purpose of the isotype control is to determine that the binding of the primary antibody is specific, rather than non-specific Fc receptors or interactions with other proteins. It can also be used to competitively bind antibodies and perform the same function as functional blocking antibodies.The isotype control should be consistent with the source of the primary antibody, Ig typing and labeling.
